Colchester Zoo is nestled in 60 acres of lush parklands surrounded by scenic lakes, making it the perfect destination for a memorable day out with family or friends. The zoo offers a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with a wide range of beautiful animals and fall in love with them.
Animal Kingdom With more than 180 species from different habitats all around the world, there is an animal for everyone to enjoy at Colchester Zoo. The Komodo dragons, White rhinos, sun bears, African lions, Amur leopard and many more magnificent animals await your arrival! Have an incredible experience with African elephants and giraffes as you get to feed them dinner at no extra cost. Your little ones will be in awe as they watch the giraffe stretch its neck to nibble on some tasty treats, or the elephant’s trunk sway and vacuum up the food that they have set out in the Elephant Kingdom. Don’t forget to tweet along with some colourful rainbow lorikeets and visit the Cat Enclosure and Lion Rock to hear the loud roars of the pride of lions and spot the elusive fennec fox. If you are a hippo lover, you should definitely visit the hippo enclosure for the pygmy hippo, who love to wallow in the water and relax during the day.

Accessibility Information
This attraction has its own car park.
This car park has a dedicated disabled parking section.
The disabled parking is roughly 60 metres from the main entrance.
The car park is concrete with a loose gravel coating.
There is level access between the car park and the main entrance.
The terrain is naturally hilly in some places with many slopes and some steep hills.
The majority of the paths around the Zoo can be accessed by wheelchair.
Due to the hilly nature of the location, some routes involve steps or steep slopes which they consider are unsuitable for wheelchair users.
There is one very steep hill near the main office building / redbrick house that is clearly marked as NOT BEING SUITABLE for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
There is an accessible play area within the Remi Brown playground.
Natural hedging is used around some areas and can obstruct views from wheelchairs.
The zoo train has an accessible carriage.
There is an Easy route marked out around the zoo with Green Arrows.
