Marwell Zoo is a captivating destination that strives to foster a deep connection between people and nature. With a keen eye and a sense of adventure, guests can embark on a thrilling animal-spotting journey, imagining themselves in the wild as they encounter the incredible variety of exotic and endangered animals that call Marwell home. From majestic Rothschild’s giraffes and magnificent white rhinos to magnificent Amur tigers, charming Humboldt penguins, adorable red pandas, and elusive snow leopards, the park is teeming with a diverse array of animal stars. And with all three species of zebra also in residence, there’s always something new and exciting to discover.

This car park has 2 rows of accessible parking spaces in the main car park, close to the entrance of the zoo
The disabled parking is roughly 100 metres from the main entrance.
There is level access between the car park and the main entrance.
Pathways around the park are concrete laid.
The exhibits are specially designed with alternative viewpoints.
This attraction provides Makaton Support.
They have a hearing loop in The admissions area, reception and in the gift shop. They also have a mobile hearing loop available for the daily talks.
This attraction has Accessible Toilets.
There is level access throughout the grounds.
The road train has space for 1 manual wheelchair
There are a limited number of manual wheelchairs available for hire a £20 refundable deposit is required.
This attraction has 6 Disabled toilets located in the following areas:
- The 5 toilet blocks and the Gift Shop
All of the accessible toilets feature the following:
- Wash basin with lever-style tap
- Transfer space to the side of the toilet
- Handrails to the side of the toilet and wash basin
- Disposal facilities
- Emergency Alarms
This attraction has a changing place room that features:
- Adjustable Height Bed
- Hoist ( you will need your own sling)

If you’re looking for a quiet space to seek some time out from stimulation, there are several options.
If you need an indoor space that can be temporarily closed, please contact a member of the team as there are a few rooms they can help you to access based on their availability on the day such as the First aid room or Changing Places Toilet Facility.
Alternatively, you could head to these areas in the zoo that tend to be away from busier areas:
- Formal Garden, or back lawn behind Marwell Hall
- Front lawn or drive of Marwell Hall
- Under the canopy around the Science & Learning Centre (during school holidays)
- Behind Café Graze (please notify a member of staff)
- Lawn area beyond okapi playground
If you are visiting on a quiet day, for example outside of school holidays, most of the zoo is quiet. Although, you may come across the occasional group of schoolchildren.
For a quieter experience, it is advisable to journey anti-clockwise around the zoo as most of the guests go clockwise.
One FREE carer will be admitted with one paying guest with accessibility needs.
Evidence must be presented in one of the following forms:
- Compass cards
- i-go cards
- Letters from Disability Support Services
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP) letters, Disability Living Allowance letters (DLA),
- Access cards,
- Yellow cards,
- Disabled Identification (DID) card,
- Appropriate Travel / Leisure Cards,
- Blue badges (please take a photo of your badge as the badge must be displayed in your vehicle).
- Gateway cards will be accepted as long as original email and digital card is shown
Fully trained assistance dogs are welcome, although, access is restricted in a few areas* due to the sensitive nature of the animals.
Please note, they do not accept assistance dogs and puppies in training.Â
You will need to provide proof of full vaccinations and training before entering the zoo.

*To maintain the welfare of the bush dogs, please keep assistance dogs strictly 1-metre from the fence when at the bush dog habitat.
