The Royal Mint Experience is a captivating and immersive tour that will take you on a journey through the history of British coins and the Royal Mint’s role in producing currency for the United Kingdom and other countries around the world.

During the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to see the minting process up close, witness the making of commemorative coins, and even strike your own coin as a souvenir to take home. You’ll also have the chance to explore interactive exhibits, including a virtual reality experience that takes you on a thrilling journey through the heart of a coin.

But the experience doesn’t end there. You can also visit the Mint’s gift shop, which boasts an impressive range of coins, medals, and commemorative items for purchase. And, if you’re feeling hungry, the on-site cafe offers delicious refreshments and meals.

The Royal Mint Experience is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in the history of money and the role it plays in our daily lives. With engaging exhibits, interactive displays, and hands-on activities, it’s a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages.

Accessibility Information

This attraction has its own car park.

This car park has dedicated disabled parking.

The disabled parking is roughly 115 metres from the main entrance. 

There is level access from the car park to the main entrance.

There is level access throughout the public areas of the building.

The number of wheelchair users is restricted on the experience tours and those wanting to experience it should call 0333 241 2223 to book their tour tickets.

There are a limited number of manual wheelchairs available to hire.

This attraction offers Low Sensory Tours.

This attraction has a disabled toilet.

The cafe and gift shop are both wheelchair accessible.

This attraction has 2 disabled toilets located in the following areas:

  • Outside the cafe
  • Outside the Pre Show Room

These toilets feature the following:

  • Handrails to the side of the toilet and wash basin
  • Wash basin with lever style tap
  • Transfer space to the side of the toilet
  • Disposal facilities
  • Emergency Alarm

Trained assistance dogs are permitted within this attraction.

Assistance dogs must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless this interferes with their assistance tasks.

Visitors are responsible for the conduct and clean-up of their assistance dogs.

Drinking water bowls are available at the entrance of the attraction.

Due to health and safety reasons, they are unable to allow assistance dogs onto the factory floor. 

If you wish to visit on a weekend and require an assistance dog to accompany you, please call 0333 241 3332
where they will try to make reasonable adjustments to the tour.

They have amended the regular tour to accommodate those with sensory needs by reducing sensory
triggers such as reducing the noise in our exhibition and removing any bright or flashing lights during the
tour.

They have reduced the capacity of the tours to ensure nobody feels overcrowded, and the tours will
also be extended to provide additional time to process information in each room.

These are available on the first Sunday of every month at 09:15am.

This attraction offers free entry to carers accompanying a paying disabled guest.
