The National History Museum is a world-renowned museum located in London, England, that features a vast collection of specimens and artifacts related to the natural world. The museum’s collection includes over 80 million specimens, ranging from dinosaurs and fossils to live animals and insects. The museum’s collection is divided into four main categories: botany, entomology, mineralogy, and zoology.
The museum is housed in a stunning Victorian-era building and offers visitors a range of galleries and exhibits to explore. The most famous exhibit is undoubtedly the Diplodocus skeleton that stands in the central hall of the museum, known as “Dippy”. Other popular exhibits include the Human Evolution gallery, the Earth Hall, and the Wildlife Garden.
In addition to the exhibits, the museum offers a range of interactive and educational programs and events for visitors of all ages. There are daily tours, workshops, and talks on a variety of topics, from ecology and conservation to the history of the earth and its creatures.
The National History Museum is committed to making the museum accessible to all visitors. The museum is wheelchair accessible, and there are lifts and ramps available to assist visitors who need them. There are also audio guides available for visitors who are blind or partially sighted, and large print guides for those with visual impairments. Sign language interpreters can also be arranged with advance notice.

There is plenty of on street parking near the attraction.
Disabled visitors can be dropped of to the front of the museum but this must be arrange prior to your visit, call the museum on  01904 687687
The museum is set within York Museum Gardens.
The Gardens are fully wheelchair accessible with gently sloping pathways. There is a ramp to the left hand side of the museums main entrance.
There is a ramp at the front of the building and the main entrance area is fully accessible.
The museum is on three floors and there is a lift.
The lower and ground floors are fully accessible to wheelchair users.
The first floor is mainly accessible, but the reading room and historic library are not accessible to wheelchairs.
Please contact them if you wish to access these facilities and they will do their best to help you.
Please note that at busy times there may be a delay in using the lift, as only one wheelchair user is allowed on the first floor at a time due to fire regulations.
There are handrails on the stairs and there is seating available around the museum.
80% of the visual interactives have subtitles.
This attraction has an accessible toilet located on the ground floor.

Assistance Dogs are permitted within this attraction.
Assistance dog owners should bring their Assistance Dog UK (ADUK) identification book and animals should wear the appropriate tabard or harness.

This attraction offers free entry to carers accompanying a paying disabled guest.
