Fleet Air Museum

The Fleet Air Arm Museum in Somerset is one of Europe’s largest aviation museums and tells the story of the Royal Navy’s flying service from its earliest days to the modern era. The museum houses an impressive collection of historic aircraft, including early biplanes, helicopters and modern jets, displayed across several large exhibition halls. Visitors can explore aviation history through aircraft displays, multimedia exhibits and interactive experiences that demonstrate how naval aviation has evolved over the past century. One of the highlights of the museum is the opportunity to see Concorde up close, alongside aircraft used in major conflicts and peacekeeping missions. Interactive exhibits and flight simulation experiences allow visitors to gain a deeper understanding of how aircraft operate and the skills required by naval pilots.

Accessibility is well considered throughout the museum to support a mobility friendly visit. The attraction has its own car park with 15 designated disabled parking spaces, located approximately 50 metres from the ground floor entrance. The car park is tarmac surfaced and provides level access towards the pedestrian entrance gate. Around 95 percent of the museum is accessible for wheelchair users, and lifts provide access to most first floor exhibition areas. Some spaces may be more restricted, including inside the Concorde fuselage and certain upper gallery sections in Hall Two, due to the structure of the aircraft and building.

Accessible facilities are available throughout the museum. Induction loops are installed at the ticket desk, information office and at audio information points in Halls One and Four to assist visitors with hearing impairments. The museum can arrange guided support for visitors with visual impairments, and individual practice sessions can also be arranged for guests with learning disabilities by contacting the museum in advance. Accessible toilets are located in Halls One, Two and Four, each equipped with handrails, lever taps, transfer space and emergency pull cords.

Free carer entry is available for visitors who require assistance when accompanied by a paying disabled guest, with supporting documentation such as PIP, DLA or a doctor’s letter accepted as evidence.
