Linton Zoo is a long-established wildlife park in Cambridgeshire, founded in 1972 by a family passionate about animal welfare and conservation. Set across 18 acres, the zoo offers a relaxed and natural environment where visitors can explore a wide variety of animals while enjoying landscaped gardens filled with thousands of plants, shrubs, and trees.

The zoo is home to an impressive collection of species from around the world, including African lions, tigers, snow leopards, zebras, kangaroos, lemurs, macaws, owls, reptiles, and insects. New species are regularly introduced, ensuring there is always something new to discover. Alongside the animals, visitors can explore a dinosaur area that provides an educational and engaging experience for children, as well as a play area designed for younger visitors to enjoy.

Linton Zoo offers a peaceful and family-friendly atmosphere, with plenty of picnic areas throughout the grounds. The combination of wildlife, outdoor space, and educational features makes it a great option for a relaxed day out.

From an accessibility perspective, many areas of the zoo can be accessed by visitors with limited mobility. Pathways are similar to those found in a country park, with a mix of surfaces including uneven ground, natural roots, and slight inclines throughout the site. While wheelchair users do regularly visit and enjoy the zoo, some areas may require extra effort to navigate, and visitors should be prepared for a more physically demanding experience in places.

Motorised mobility scooters and chairs, particularly those with a narrow wheelbase, are not recommended due to the uneven terrain and woodland-style paths. However, additional ramps are available for certain buildings, and staff are on hand to assist if access is required.

Visitors should note that Linton Zoo does not currently offer discounted admission for disabled visitors or carers.

Due to the potential impact on the animals, dogs and pets are not permitted anywhere on-site, including the car park. This policy also applies to assistance dogs.

Linton Zoo provides a more traditional and natural zoo experience, best suited to visitors who are comfortable with uneven terrain. With its wide variety of animals, peaceful setting, and family-friendly facilities, it remains a popular choice for those looking for a nature-focused and mobility friendly day out in Cambridgeshire, with some planning required around accessibility needs.
