Wildwood Kent is a unique wildlife park and conservation charity set within 40 acres of ancient woodland near Canterbury. Dedicated to British wildlife, the park is home to over 200 native species, including wolves, lynx, bears, red squirrels, deer, foxes, and wild boar, offering visitors a rare opportunity to see both past and present UK wildlife in one place.
The park combines conservation with family-friendly activities, making it an engaging day out for all ages. Younger visitors can enjoy the Cute Corner, designed to introduce preschool children to familiar animals, while the Amazing Adventure Playground features swings, climbing structures, treetop towers, and Kent’s tallest drop slide for more energetic fun.
Visitors can explore woodland trails at their own pace, with plenty of picnic areas available throughout the park, as well as an on-site restaurant offering refreshments and meals.
From an accessibility perspective, Wildwood Kent provides a range of facilities to support visitors with limited mobility. The park includes accessible pathways, ramps, disabled parking, and accessible toilet facilities. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available to hire on-site (subject to availability), making it easier to navigate the woodland terrain.
While much of the park is accessible, visitors should be aware that the natural setting includes uneven paths, mud, and exposed tree roots, which may present challenges, particularly in wet weather. The rope bridge over the bear enclosure is not accessible to wheelchair users or mobility scooters.
Mobility scooters and wheelchairs can be hired for a small fee, and advance booking is recommended due to limited availability.
Free parking is available on-site, including space for coaches, although larger vehicles may be restricted during peak periods.
With its combination of accessible facilities, native wildlife, and outdoor adventure, Wildwood Kent is a great option for a mobility friendly day out for those comfortable with natural terrain and woodland environments.
