Thorpe Park Resort is one of the UK’s most popular and adrenaline-fuelled theme parks, offering over 30 rides and attractions across a large island-style resort. Known for its world-class rollercoasters and high-intensity rides, it attracts thrill seekers from across the country while also providing accessibility support for guests with additional needs.

The park is home to iconic rides such as Stealth, one of the UK’s fastest rollercoasters, and SAW – The Ride, famous for its steep vertical drop. Other major attractions include The Swarm, Colossus, and a range of water rides and drop towers, alongside a smaller selection of family-friendly experiences.

Thorpe Park provides a generally mobility friendly environment, with mostly level pathways throughout the park. However, due to the nature of many high-thrill rides, not all attractions are accessible to every guest, particularly those with mobility impairments or limb differences. Guests are encouraged to check ride-specific accessibility guidance before visiting.

Parking is available on-site, with 43 designated disabled spaces located within the main car park. The furthest accessible bays are approximately 220 metres from the entrance, so additional time should be allowed when arriving.

Accessibility support is well structured, with an Accessibility Kiosk located near the entrance where guests can collect Ride Access Passes, RADAR keys, ear defenders, and access support. Additional assistance is available from the Island Help & Information point inside the park.

Thorpe Park offers a Ride Access Pass for guests who are unable to queue for extended periods. This system is managed in partnership with Nimbus Disability and requires an application in advance. Once approved, guests can access rides via designated entrances, reducing the need to wait in standard queues. The pass is valid for up to three years across multiple Merlin attractions.

Accessible facilities across the park include seven accessible toilets, a Changing Places facility, a quiet room, and a first aid centre. These are located throughout key areas such as The Dome, ride zones, and entrance areas. RADAR keys are required for accessible toilets and can be hired on-site if needed.

The Changing Places facility, located within The Dome, includes a hoist, adjustable changing bench, accessible toilet, and lowered sink, supporting guests with more complex needs.

Wheelchair hire is available on a first-come, first-served basis from the Accessibility Kiosk, with a £50 refundable deposit required. Due to limited availability, guests are advised to bring their own where possible. Ear defenders are also available to hire for those with sensory sensitivities.

While the park is accessible in layout, many rides require guests to transfer from their wheelchair and meet specific physical requirements. Staff are unable to assist with lifting, and carers may be required to support guests during boarding and in the event of an evacuation.

Assistance dogs are permitted within the park but are not allowed on rides. They must remain supervised and under control at all times.

As with all major theme parks, safety is a priority. Some rides may not be suitable for all guests, and access may be restricted where necessary to ensure safety. These decisions are based on ride design and safety regulations.

With its combination of structured accessibility support, modern facilities, and clear ride access systems, Thorpe Park is a strong option for those seeking a mobility friendly day out with high-thrill attractions in the UK.
