The CEA Card: Accessibility at the Cinema

Cinema is a beloved form of entertainment that offers a world of stories. The CEA Card ensures that individuals with disabilities can enjoy the magic of the big screen with the support they need.

    Apply for a CEA Card

    What is a CEA Card?

The Cinema Exhibitors’ Association Card is a national scheme that promotes inclusivity in the UK cinema industry. Recognized by major cinema chains and independent theaters, the card allows holders to bring a companion free of charge to provide essential support during their visit.

The Main Benefit: The card provides one free ticket for a companion, such as a family member, friend, or caregiver, when you purchase a full-price ticket for yourself.

    Eligibility and Application

To be eligible, you must have a disability that makes attending a cinema screening without assistance challenging. This includes a wide range of physical, sensory, and cognitive impairments.

The application process is straightforward. You will need to complete an online form and provide supporting documentation, such as a disability-related benefits letter or a note from a healthcare professional. There is a small administration fee to cover the card production, and it is typically valid for one year from the date of issue.

    Using Your CEA Card

Once you receive your card, you can present it at the box office or use it when booking tickets online at participating cinemas. It is highly versatile and applies to most screenings including:

    • New movie releases
    • 3D films
    • Special cinematic events

    Promoting Inclusivity

The CEA Card acknowledges the diverse needs of disabled individuals and works to eliminate financial barriers that might prevent someone from enjoying cinematic art. By enabling companions to attend for free, it fosters social engagement and shared experiences within the community.

    Other Useful Cards

While the CEA Card is specific to cinemas, other organizations offer broader access solutions. You may also be interested in the Nimbus Access Card, the DID Card, or the Max Card for general attractions and leisure.
