Banham Zoo

Banham Zoo, located in the Norfolk countryside, is an award winning wildlife attraction that offers visitors the chance to explore a wide range of animal habitats and conservation programmes. The zoo is home to hundreds of animals from around the world, including big cats, primates, birds of prey and endangered species. Visitors can enjoy daily feeding talks and keeper presentations, providing fascinating insight into animal behaviour and conservation work taking place at the zoo. Accessibility has been considered across much of the site to support a mobility friendly visit. The zoo has its own car park with a dedicated disabled parking area located approximately 50 metres from the main entrance. From the parking area there is level access to the entrance, and the zoo grounds are generally accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs. Many pathways are paved and lifts or ramps are available where changes in level occur. Seating is available throughout the zoo to provide places for visitors to rest while exploring the site.

Accessible facilities are located around the park to support visitors with additional needs. Accessible toilets can be found in several areas including Parkside Pizza, the Australian Paddock, Giraffe House and the Woodland Roadtrain Station. These facilities include grab rails, lever taps, transfer space beside the toilet and emergency alarm systems. Portable hearing loops are also available for visitors who require hearing assistance.

The zoo offers a number of hire options to support visitors during their visit. Manual wheelchairs are available free of charge, although numbers are limited and can be reserved in advance through the admissions team. Mobility scooters can also be hired for a daily fee and are available on a first come, first served basis. Ear defenders are available to borrow for visitors who may benefit from reduced noise levels during their visit.
