Battersea Park Children’s Zoo in London is a small, family focused zoo designed especially for younger visitors. Located within Battersea Park, the zoo offers children the chance to discover a variety of smaller animals in a relaxed and engaging environment. Visitors can see species such as otters, monkeys, lemurs, donkeys and chipmunks while exploring the zoo’s compact pathways and enclosures. The Reptile House provides an opportunity to learn about reptiles and amphibians including snakes, turtles and lizards, while daily talks and feeding sessions help visitors learn more about the animals and their care. Alongside the animal exhibits, the zoo also features a large adventure playground and sand pit where children can climb, dig and play, making it a popular destination for families with younger children.

Accessibility has been considered to support a mobility friendly visit throughout the zoo. Although the attraction does not have its own car park, the closest parking is located at the Pay and Display car park on Carriage Drive North, approximately 150 metres from the entrance. This car park includes marked disabled spaces, and Blue Badge holders may park free of charge for up to three hours on weekdays when displaying a valid badge and time clock. From the car park there is level access to the zoo entrance.

Inside the zoo, pathways are concrete laid and generally level, allowing wheelchair users and visitors with mobility aids to move around the site comfortably. All animal enclosures are viewable from a seated position and the on site café is also wheelchair accessible, although the counter is not lowered.

Accessible facilities are available within the zoo. An accessible toilet is located on site and includes grab rails, a lever tap and support rails beside the toilet. For visitors requiring a Changing Places facility, the nearest location is at Battersea Power Station, approximately a ten minute walk from the zoo.

Registered assistance dogs are permitted within the zoo, although additional guidelines are in place to protect the animals. Visitors with assistance dogs will be asked to meet a zookeeper on arrival for a short briefing, and dogs are not permitted to walk through the monkey area. Dogs must remain on a short lead, wear appropriate identification and be kept under control throughout the visit.

Free entry is available for carers accompanying a paying disabled visitor when appropriate documentation is presented. With its accessible pathways, interactive animal experiences and family friendly play areas, Battersea Park Children’s Zoo offers an enjoyable and inclusive day out for families visiting central London.
