Black Country Living Museum offers a fascinating and largely mobility friendly day out, bringing the history of the West Midlands to life across 26 acres of reconstructed streets, historic buildings and interactive exhibits. Visitors can explore traditional shops, houses and industrial buildings, meet costumed characters, and even ride vintage trams and vehicles while discovering what everyday life was like during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The museum provides good accessibility across much of the site, with level access from the disabled parking area to the main entrance and accessible routes throughout. Due to the historic nature of the attraction, some pathways are cobbled or uneven, and certain buildings have steps, although temporary ramps can often be provided on request. The museum’s dedicated accessibility vehicle, Doris, includes a tail lift to assist visitors with limited mobility in travelling around the site. Manual wheelchairs are also available to borrow with advance booking.

Accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility are available in multiple locations, and induction loops are installed in key areas including the Visitor Centre, café and shop. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the attraction, and accessible tours, including audio descriptive and BSL-supported tours, provide inclusive ways for visitors to enjoy the experience.

With its accessible facilities, immersive historic setting and inclusive visitor support, Black Country Living Museum provides an engaging and mobility friendly heritage experience for visitors of all abilities.
