Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, offers an immersive indoor marine experience with a strong focus on making the attraction accessible and easy to navigate. Home to over 100 living displays, visitors can explore everything from tropical reef fish and seahorses to Black Tip Reef Sharks, with the highlight being the underwater tunnel where sharks and rays swim overhead.

The attraction is designed with accessibility in mind. There is level access from the large onsite car park to the entrance, including 42 dedicated accessible parking bays. The main entrance doors open automatically, and inside the venue there is lift access between floors and ramps provided where level access is not available. The restaurant also offers level access, making it easier for guests using mobility aids.

Accessible toilet facilities are located near the main entrance and include grab rails, a lowered wash basin, a drop down transfer rail and a wide doorway. Manual wheelchair hire is available for a refundable deposit, which can be helpful for visitors who may need additional support during their visit.

Blue Planet Aquarium also operates a free carer admission policy for eligible visitors with valid proof of carer status. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the aquarium, with the exception of the pelican area, and staff should be informed on arrival.

Alongside the marine exhibits and live Aquatheatre presentations, families can enjoy a soft play area and pirate themed playground, making Blue Planet Aquarium a practical, weather proof and mobility friendly day out in the North West.

Please note while assistance dogs are allowed within the premises they are not allowed within the pelican area.
