Bristol Aquarium is a centrally located indoor attraction in Millennium Square, offering visitors the chance to explore over 40 naturally themed displays featuring marine and freshwater species from around the world. Highlights include the underwater tunnel, where sharks and fish swim overhead, and the unique botanical house, which combines aquatic habitats with tropical plants and trees. Visitors can discover a wide range of species including seahorses, rays, pufferfish, jellyfish and tropical reef fish, alongside regular talks and feeding demonstrations throughout the day.
The aquarium is designed to be mobility friendly, with ramps throughout the venue and multi level viewing areas to help visitors access most exhibits. Accessible toilets are available on the ground floor, including one with baby changing facilities, and a hearing loop is installed at the entrance and in some display areas to support visitors with hearing aids. Wheelchairs are available to borrow with a refundable deposit if arranged in advance, and some staff have disability awareness and BSL training to provide additional support where needed.
While there is no dedicated onsite parking, Millennium Square Car Park is located approximately 200 metres away and includes 22 accessible parking bays near lifts and pedestrian access points. Additional Blue Badge parking is available on nearby Canons Road. The nearest Changing Places facility is located at We The Curious, around 100 metres away.
Bristol Aquarium also offers free carer entry for visitors who require support, subject to valid proof of disability. With step free routes, accessible facilities and a central location, it provides a practical and accessible indoor day out in Bristol suitable for visitors with mobility requirements and their families.
