Drusillas Park in East Sussex is an award winning family attraction combining a zoo, rides and play areas into one fun filled day out. The park is home to more than 100 exotic animals from around the world including Chilean flamingos, red pandas, giant anteaters and a variety of monkeys and reptiles. Visitors can explore immersive walkthrough exhibits such as Lemurland and Lory Landing, where animals roam freely around specially designed habitats. Animal lovers can also enjoy daily encounters and feeding sessions while learning more about the park’s conservation work.
Alongside the zoo, Drusillas offers a range of family rides and attractions included with admission. Visitors can hop aboard the Safari Express train, spin on the Rainforest Carousel or soar through the air on the Flying Cheetahs ride. Younger visitors can explore adventure play areas, climb through the structures, or find their way around Mungo’s Maze. The park also features Jurassic Jungle, where visitors can walk among prehistoric dinosaur models and learn more about the creatures that once roamed the Earth.
Drusillas Park offers a number of facilities to support a mobility friendly visit. The attraction has its own car park with several dedicated disabled parking spaces located close to the entrance. The site itself is mostly flat with concrete pathways throughout, and where level access is not possible ramps have been installed. Seating areas are located around the park to allow visitors to take breaks while exploring.
Wheelchairs are available to hire from the admissions gate, subject to availability and a refundable cash deposit. Many of the animal enclosures feature low level viewing windows, allowing visitors using wheelchairs or mobility aids to enjoy clear views of the animals. Hearing induction loops are also fitted at all zoo admission gates.
Accessible toilet facilities are located in several areas across the park including the main entrance, opposite Go Safari!, Go Wild! and Explorers Café. The park also includes a Changing Places facility in the Amazon Adventure complex which features a height adjustable changing bed, ceiling hoist, central peninsular toilet and emergency alarm.
Drusillas Park recognises the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme to support visitors with hidden disabilities. Sunflower lanyards can be collected from the Visitor Services Office when providing supporting documentation such as a Blue Badge, diagnosis letter or disability support card.
Visitors who require a carer during their visit can receive free carer entry when accompanying a paying disabled guest. Evidence such as Disability Living Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, Employment and Support Allowance, Attendance Allowance or an Access Card with the Essential Companion symbol may be required and must be dated within two years of the visit.
The park also offers a Ride Access Pass for visitors who may find it difficult to queue for rides due to a disability. With this pass, guests can access rides through an alternative entrance or exit point. Evidence such as a Blue Badge, diagnosis letter or disability support documentation may be required to receive the pass.
Fully trained assistance dogs are permitted within the park, although they are not allowed in walkthrough animal exhibits such as Lemurland, Lory Landing or the Bats and Sloth Cave to prevent distress to the animals.
With its mix of animals, rides and family attractions, Drusillas Park offers an exciting and inclusive day out for visitors of all ages exploring East Sussex.
