Fowey Aquarium is a small, historic aquarium located on Fowey Town Quay in Cornwall, offering visitors a close up look at marine life found along the British coastline. Established in 1952, the aquarium retains many of its original tanks and focuses on showcasing native UK species, including lobsters, crabs, conger eels and starfish. One of the highlights is the touch pool, where visitors can safely interact with selected marine creatures under supervision, helping to create an educational and hands on experience for families.
The aquarium is mobility friendly inside, with step free access suitable for wheelchair users. However, due to the compact layout and busy periods, some areas may feel tight when the attraction is crowded. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the aquarium.
There is no dedicated onsite parking, but the Main Long Stay Car Park is located approximately 300 metres away and provides 13 accessible parking bays. The aquarium does not have its own accessible toilet facilities, although public toilets are available less than 20 metres from the entrance for a small fee.
With its level access, central harbourside location and focus on local marine conservation, Fowey Aquarium offers a simple and accessible indoor activity in Cornwall for visitors looking to learn more about UK sea life.
