Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park offers a unique and engaging day out in Suffolk, combining a working rare breeds farm with an exciting wildlife park experience. Known from the popular BBC documentary featuring Jimmy Doherty, this well-loved attraction is home to over 100 species and breeds, ranging from traditional farm animals like pigs, goats, and cows to more exotic wildlife.
Visitors can enjoy hands-on animal encounters, with opportunities to feed and interact with friendly animals throughout the day. Special animal experiences and talks run on weekends and during school holidays, giving guests the chance to get even closer to the animals. The butterfly house offers a calm and immersive experience, where tropical butterflies flutter freely around you, while the woodland walk provides a peaceful outdoor space for families to explore together.
For children, the park delivers plenty of energy-burning fun with a large outdoor adventure playground. Highlights include a bouncy pillow, giant sandpit, climbing pyramids, play vehicles, sports challenges, and a charming hobbit house. With a mix of animal interaction, outdoor exploration, and play, it is a well-rounded day out that appeals to all ages.
Jimmy’s Farm is open seven days a week and also offers a relaxing environment for families to unwind, with a restaurant serving food and drinks, as well as plenty of outdoor space to enjoy a picnic or a walk through the 100-acre woodland.
From an accessibility perspective, Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park provides a range of facilities to support visitors with additional needs. Free parking is available on-site, and there is one all-terrain mobility scooter available to hire, which must be booked in advance due to limited availability. Wheelchair accessible toilets are located in both the Wildlife Park and restaurant areas, alongside baby changing and handwashing facilities.
The park operates on agricultural land, meaning pathways can vary in surface. Visitors will encounter gravel, tar and chip, recycled materials, and areas of uneven terrain, particularly within the Woodland Adventures area where rammed earth paths are used. While many routes are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs, some areas may be more challenging, and larger specialist buggies may find certain paths restrictive. Ongoing improvements to pathways are regularly carried out to enhance accessibility.
Jimmy’s Farm has also taken steps to improve inclusivity across the visitor experience. A dedicated accessible queue is available at the entrance to reduce waiting times for visitors with physical or developmental disabilities. British Sign Language signage, developed in partnership with the Royal Association for Deaf people, is displayed throughout the park to support inclusivity and learning.
