The National SEA LIFE Centre Birmingham is a large indoor aquarium located in Brindleyplace, featuring over 60 displays of marine and freshwater species from around the world. Visitors can explore themed zones including tropical oceans, rainforest habitats and UK coastal environments, with highlights such as the Ocean Tunnel, where sharks, rays and sea turtles swim overhead. Daily talks and feeding demonstrations provide educational insight, making it a popular family attraction in Birmingham city centre.
The aquarium is mobility friendly, with lift access between floors and ramps provided where level access is not available. The attraction is spread across multiple levels, but accessible routes allow visitors using wheelchairs or mobility aids to explore most areas. Accessible toilets are available onsite, equipped with grab rails, disposal facilities and emergency pull cords. Lighting is kept low in some areas to support animal welfare, which may be helpful to consider for visitors with visual or sensory sensitivities.
While there is no dedicated onsite parking, several nearby car parks provide accessible bays, including Q-Park Brindleyplace (approximately 150 metres away) and Arena Birmingham car parks (around 300 metres away), all with lift access. The aquarium also offers free carer entry for eligible visitors with valid proof of disability, and assistance dogs are welcome throughout the attraction.
With lift access, accessible facilities and nearby accessible parking, SEA LIFE Birmingham provides a mobility friendly indoor day out in the West Midlands, suitable for visitors with accessibility requirements and their families.
