St Andrews Aquarium is a coastal attraction in the historic town of St Andrews, offering visitors the chance to discover marine life from Scottish waters and around the world. The aquarium features a variety of exhibits including sharks, rays, tropical fish, seals, penguins and reptiles, alongside interactive experiences such as rock pools and daily feeding sessions. The underwater tunnel allows visitors to view marine life swimming overhead, while educational talks provide insight into conservation and animal care.
The aquarium is located in a Victorian era building, which means full wheelchair access is currently limited. The ground floor is accessible to wheelchair users, allowing visitors to experience a selection of exhibits, but the upper floor is only accessible via stairs. Due to this limitation, wheelchair users are offered free entry, including one accompanying carer. Guide dogs are welcome throughout the aquarium.
There is no dedicated onsite parking, but a council run Pay and Display car park is located directly outside the aquarium and includes four accessible parking bays. The aquarium does not have accessible toilet facilities onsite, as toilets are located on the first floor. However, an accessible toilet is available approximately 150 metres away in the nearby car park and requires a RADAR key.
While accessibility is currently limited due to the historic nature of the building, St Andrews Aquarium continues to explore improvements and provides accessible ground floor exhibits, accessible parking nearby and supportive entry policies for visitors with mobility requirements.
