The Big Sheep

The BIG Sheep is one of North Devon’s most popular all-weather family attractions, combining farm experiences, live shows, and family rides. Set in a rural environment, the park offers a fun and educational day out, with a strong commitment to improving accessibility for visitors of all ages and abilities.

The attraction features a wide range of activities including animal encounters, live shows such as sheep racing and duck trials, indoor play areas, and family rides like the Rampage Roller Coaster and Twister. There is also Ewetopia, a large indoor soft play area, making it a great option in all weather conditions.

As a working farm attraction, accessibility varies across the site. However, much of the park is mobility friendly, with level access routes, ramps, and wide pathways throughout key areas. Surfaces are mainly concrete and paving, although some sections include gravel paths, wooden bridges, and slight inclines where assistance may be required.

Parking is available on-site with six designated accessible spaces located less than 50 metres from the main entrance. There is also a convenient drop-off point with a dropped kerb for easier access. Entry routes from the car park are wide, level, and suitable for wheelchair users.

Inside the park, many main areas including the Animal Barn, show arenas, cafés, and shop are accessible via step-free routes or ramps. The Animal Barn provides access to several attractions including the train ride, which features a dedicated wheelchair-accessible carriage.

Some rides and attractions are partially accessible. For example, the Rampage Roller Coaster can be accessed via an exit ramp, but guests must have sufficient upper body strength and be able to safely evacuate if required. Other attractions, such as Swan Pedalos, are not wheelchair accessible due to steps.

The park offers excellent accessibility for shows and viewing areas, with designated wheelchair seating and good visibility across key attractions like the Sheep Race, Duck Trials, and Dog Trials. Stewards are available to assist where needed.

Accessible toilet facilities are available at reception and within Ewetopia, providing essential amenities for visitors with additional needs.

Dining facilities, including The Barn Café and Bo Peep’s Café, are fully accessible with step-free access, wide routes between tables, and large print menus available. Staff can provide table service on request, and the park caters for dietary requirements including vegetarian and gluten free options.

Picnic areas are located throughout the park, with some tables designed to accommodate wheelchair users, allowing visitors to bring their own food and enjoy the surroundings comfortably.

Assistance dogs are welcome across the site, supporting visitors who rely on service animals during their visit.
