UK Disabled ID

What is a DID Card?

The National Disabled Identification (DID) Card offers a convenient and accessible solution for disabled individuals who have grown weary of carrying around paperwork to prove their entitlement to disability benefits in order to receive concessionary rates. This is especially true for parents of children with disabilities and special needs whose child’s disability may not be immediately apparent, such as those with autism or global developmental delay. The DID card eliminates the need for cumbersome paperwork, making it a practical and efficient alternative for those in need.

The Facts

Since its launch in 2012 the DID card has made a massive ipact with over 150,000 cards issued since. With over 500 venues and businesses in the UK recognizing the card and providing appropriate concessions and services to cardholders with disabilities, it has made it easier for disabled individuals to access various venues and attractions. In addition, over 40 theme parks in the UK offer a ride access system for those with a registered disability. By presenting their DID Card to the guest relations team, individuals can be assigned a ride access pass or wristband, allowing fast entry to the rides and attractions. Furthermore, the DID Card is widely recognized and can be used at various attractions worldwide, making it an essential tool for disabled individuals who enjoy traveling.

How do I get an access card ?

To get a DID card, you can visit the official website of the DID Card and click on the “Apply Now” button. You will be required to fill out an application form and provide supporting documents as proof of your disability. These documents may include a letter from a healthcare professional, a disability benefit letter, or other relevant documents. Once your application is processed and approved, you will receive your DID card, which you can present at participating venues to access appropriate concessions and services. The DID card is valid for two years, after which you will need to renew your registration.

Who does the DID card cover?

The card can be applied for by disabled individuals or by a representative or guardian for the disabled person. If you are applying on behalf of the individual then please complete the application as if you were the cardholder, their personal details will be used and not the person applying for the card on their behalf.

Are there other providers like the DID Card?

Their are other organisations that offer services similar to the DID Card. In addition to the DID Card, there are options such as Nimbus, the National Disability Card, and the Max Card.
