The Museum of Gloucester is a local history museum located in Gloucester, a city in the southwest of England. The museum is housed in a beautiful Georgian building that was originally a Customs House and is situated next to Gloucester Cathedral.
The museum offers a range of exhibits that cover the history of the city from prehistoric times to the present day. Visitors can explore the history of the city through its people, events, and landmarks. Some of the notable exhibits include displays on Roman and medieval history, the role of Gloucester in the English Civil War, and the city’s industrial heritage.
One of the museum’s most significant exhibits is the Gloucester Candlestick, a rare and valuable 12th-century work of art that is on permanent display. There is also a section dedicated to the life and work of Beatrix Potter, who lived in the Gloucestershire area and drew inspiration for her famous children’s books from the local landscape and wildlife.
