Attraction Information

Blackpool Zoo in Lancashire, England, is a must-visit for animal enthusiasts, boasting over 1,500 animals and multiple awards. From lions, tigers, and gorillas to flamingos, it offers a diverse experience for all ages.

The iconic Project Elephant Base Camp hosts Asian elephants in the UK’s largest indoor area, allowing visitors to observe and even have close encounters with these intelligent animals. Giraffe Heights provides stunning views of the tallest mammals on earth, while the Big Cat House offers glimpses of African lions and Amur Tigers. Interactive animal feeds enable close encounters, particularly with the giraffes, guided by experienced keepers.

Gorilla Mountain and Orangutan Outlook present natural habitats for chimpanzees and Bornean Orangutans, with serene spots for observation. Blackpool Zoo provides an array of attractions, making it perfect for both family visits and individual exploration for animal lovers.

This car park has 12 disabled parking spaces

The distance from the furthest disabled parking space is roughly 75 metres

The car park is concrete-laid.

There is level access between the car park and the main entrance.

Wheelchairs are available for hire from Reception a £20 refundable deposit is required.

The Lake View Café is situated in the zoo grounds and has ramp access to the main door.

There are designated disabled areas at the front of the Sea lion Arena and the Bird Arena.

The new animal housing has low viewing windows to inside areas, and outdoor enclosures are being designed with full glass panel viewing for those in wheelchairs and small children.

Covered viewing is included in all new enclosures and, where it is necessary to raise the platforms, ramps and handrails are incorporated into the design.

 

This attraction has 4 Disabled toilets located in the 4 toilet blocks.

Each toilet features the following:

  • Transfer space to the side of the toilet
  • Wash basin with lever style tap
  • Handrails to the side of the wash basin and toilet
  • Disposal Facilities
  • Emergency Pull Cord

This attraction offers free entry to a carer accompanying a paying disabled guest.

To be eligible for free entry you must provide evidence in one of the following forms:

  • Disability allowance award
  • DLA/PIP/ESA letter,
  • DWP Benefits book,
  • Access card,
  • Blue/Orange Badge,
  • A signed letter from your GP.
