The British Ironwork Centre and Shropshire Sculpture Park is an attraction located in Oswestry, Shropshire, England, showcasing a range of sculptures and artworks made from iron and other metals. The 90-acre sculpture park is the main attraction and features over 1,000 sculptures from a variety of artists. The sculptures are made from different materials such as iron, bronze, and stainless steel, and are displayed throughout the park. The park has a range of different themes, including animal sculptures, abstract art, and political and social commentary pieces.

Aside from the sculpture park, the centre also features other exhibits and facilities such as The Ironworks which showcase the history of ironworking in the local area and includes a working forge and blacksmiths. Visitors can also see the Knife Angel, a 27-foot sculpture made from over 100,000 confiscated knives, serving as a powerful statement against knife crime. There is also a Safari Park exhibit which features life-sized animal sculptures such as elephants, rhinos, and giraffes. Visitors can also explore the Art Gallery which displays artwork from local and international artists. The gift shop sells a range of unique and handmade gifts, including sculptures, jewelry, and homeware.

This attraction has its own car park.

This car park has 8 dedicated disabled spaces.

The disabled parking is in the middle of the grounds.

 

There is level access from the car park to all areas.

Most of the grounds are on hard standing surfaces and this includes the car park and the disabled car spaces. Please note that some of the car park is a gravel surface.

Some areas feature uneven ground, these areas are signposted.

The sculptures are laid out on the grass areas, these can become difficult to navigate in the wet and it is advised wheelchair users stick to the gravel paths.

All sculptures can be viewed from a distance using the pathways around the grounds.

This attraction has an accessible toilet located left of the showroom.

This toilet features the following:

  • Handrails to the side of the toilet and wash basin
  • Wash basin with lever style tap
  • Disposal Facilities

Assistance Dogs are permitted within this attraction.

Dogs must be kept on a lead and it is advised they wear a vest, harness, or tabard that denotes their role.
