Attraction Information

The Fleet Air Museum is a large aviation museum located in Somerset, England. The museum has a lot to offer for visitors with disabilities, including wheelchair access to all areas of the museum.

The museum has a range of exhibits, displays, and interactive experiences that showcase the history of aviation. For example, there are numerous aircraft displays, ranging from early biplanes to modern jets. These exhibits are designed to be accessible to all visitors, with clear signage and labels, as well as audio descriptions available for those with visual impairments.

There are also a number of interactive exhibits that allow visitors to experience what it is like to fly a plane, including flight simulators and hands-on exhibits that simulate the controls of different aircraft.

There are accessible toilets throughout the museum, as well as seating areas for visitors who may need to take a break. The Museum’s Ground Floor entrance is roughly 50m from the Car Park.

The car park is tarmac laid.

Access to the museum for wheelchair users is via a pedestrian gate on the ground floor.

Approximately 95% of the Museum is fully accessible by those in wheelchairs.

There are lifts giving access to most exhibits on the first floor.

Areas that have restricted access without the use of a lift include inside the fuselage of Concorde and some upper galleries within Hall Two.

Hearing “induction loops” are installed at the Ticket Desk, Information Office and on audio information points in Halls One and Four.

Fleet Air Arm can arrange for a guide to assist guests who have visual impairments.

Individual Practice Sessions can be arranged for guests with learning disabilities.

  • Disposal Facilities,
  • Wash basin with lever style tap,
  • Transfer space to the side of the toilet,
  • Emergency Pull Cord.

This attraction offers free entry to carers accompanying a paying disabled guest.

To be eligible for this discount you must present evidence in one of the following forms:

  • DLA Paperwork
  • PIP Paperwork
  • Dr’s letter stating your need for a carer on professional-headed paper.
