Dreamland Margate is a classic seaside amusement park in Kent, offering a nostalgic mix of vintage rides, family attractions, and entertainment right by the beach. With iconic attractions such as the Scenic Railway, Gallopers, dodgems, and a range of traditional funfair rides, it combines retro charm with a lively modern atmosphere, making it a popular destination for families and day trippers.
The park is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all guests, including those with disabilities and additional needs. Dreamland now works with Nimbus Disability to manage all Essential Companion eligibility through the Dreamland Digital Access Pass or a full Nimbus Access Card. Visitors who require support must apply through Nimbus at least seven days before their visit. Once approved, guests with a valid +1 or +2 symbol can present their card or ID number at the Main Token Booth and receive an Essential Companion wristband for one or two companions free of charge.
This system replaces all previous forms of evidence, which means Dreamland no longer accepts Blue Badges, DLA or PIP letters, or doctor’s notes for Essential Companion wristbands. The scheme currently applies to amusement park rides and attractions only and does not extend to event tickets, extras, or group bookings.
Dreamland aims to make the amusement park as accessible as possible, although visitors should be aware that the park includes a mix of outdoor surface types such as pea shingle, asphalt, astroturf, and compacted gravel. Much of the site is level, but some areas may feel uneven for wheelchair users or those using mobility aids. Dreamland does not currently offer wheelchair or mobility scooter hire, so guests should bring their own equipment if needed.
Accessible toilets are available within the park, including in the undercover concourse and food court areas. Baby changing facilities are also provided in male and female toilets. While there is no dedicated Changing Places facility on-site, one is available nearby at Margate Train Station, a short distance from the park.
Assistance dogs are welcome throughout Dreamland, provided they meet the legal definition under the Equality Act 2010. They must remain on a lead or harness, under control at all times, and supervised by the owner or another member of the party. Assistance dogs are not permitted on rides for safety reasons. Emotional support animals are not permitted unless eligibility has been confirmed separately through Nimbus Disability.
Dreamland also provides a number of seating and quieter rest areas throughout the park, including undercover spaces with tables and chairs, as well as outdoor benches and shaded patio areas. While there is no dedicated sensory or quiet room, these areas can provide a calmer space during busier periods.
As with most amusement parks, individual rides have their own safety requirements and restrictions. Some attractions may not be suitable for all visitors, especially where physical transfers, evacuation capability, or seated restraint requirements apply. Guests using wheelchairs should attend with a responsible companion aged 16 or over who is able to assist if needed, including during ride evacuations.
With its mix of vintage rides, seaside setting, structured Essential Companion system, and accessible facilities, Dreamland Margate offers a fun and inclusive day out in Kent for visitors looking for a mobility friendly amusement park experience.
