The Piccadilly Theatre is one of the largest and most recognisable venues in London’s West End. Opened in 1928 and located just behind Piccadilly Circus, it has long been a vibrant hub for theatre, music, and live entertainment. While rich in history and character, the venue has also taken steps to ensure a more inclusive experience for all visitors.
The theatre is committed to making live performances accessible, with a range of facilities and support in place to help guests enjoy their visit in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Wheelchair users can access the theatre via the Sherwood Street entrance, where a platform lift provides entry into the Stalls. There are three dedicated wheelchair spaces located in Rows D, K, and N. These spaces can be booked in advance, and staff are available to assist with entry and seating. If preferred, visitors can transfer from their wheelchair into a theatre seat, with wheelchairs safely stored and returned when needed.
For guests with limited mobility, step-free or low-step seating is available in parts of the Royal Circle. Row A offers step-free access, while Rows B, C, and D involve only a small number of steps, making them a suitable option for those who can manage minimal stairs.
Accessible toilet facilities are available within the theatre, including locations near the Bohemian Bar, Backstage Lounge entrance, and Champagne Bar, ensuring convenient access from key seating areas.
Although the theatre does not have its own parking, the nearest option is the NCP car park on Brewer Street, approximately a five-minute walk away.
Additional accessibility features include:
Hearing support via Infra-Red and Mobile Connect systems
Captioned performances with designated seating for optimal viewing
Audio described performances and occasional touch tours
Staff assistance available throughout your visit
For the best experience, guests using hearing support systems are advised to sit towards the front of the Stalls or Royal Circle, while those attending captioned performances can contact the Box Office for recommended seating positions.
While the Piccadilly Theatre retains much of its historic structure, thoughtful accessibility provisions and staff support help ensure that a wide range of visitors can enjoy everything the venue has to offer.
