The Regent Theatre is a major touring venue in the UK, originally built in 1929 as a cinema and now hosting some of the biggest productions on the circuit. Following a major redevelopment, it has welcomed world-renowned shows such as War Horse, Mamma Mia! and Jersey Boys, making it a key cultural destination in the region.
The theatre is committed to ensuring that live performances are accessible to all, with a wide range of facilities and thoughtful design features to support visitors with additional needs.
Accessible parking is available nearby, with 14 designated spaces at Pall Mall Car Park, located directly beside the venue.
Although there are steps leading up to the main entrance, an access lift is available immediately inside the entrance foyer, allowing step-free entry into the building. Once inside, a passenger lift provides access to all levels of the theatre, with an audible announcer to assist navigation.
Wheelchair users are well catered for, with six wheelchair spaces in the Stalls and four in the Circle. In addition, up to 14 extra wheelchair users can be accommodated in Row E of the Stalls, making this one of the more flexible venues for larger groups. Access to these areas is provided via a platform lift, with clear size and weight limits to ensure safe use.
For those seeking step-free seating:
Stalls Rows AA–E offer step-free access
Circle Row B provides the most accessible seating in the upper level
Accessible toilets are available throughout the venue, including in the foyer, Stalls Bar, and Circle Bar, ensuring facilities are never far from seating areas.
Additional accessibility features include:
Lift access to all levels
Assistance available from staff throughout your visit
Audio described performances and occasional touch tours
BSL interpreted and captioned performances on selected dates
It’s important to note that the theatre does not currently provide an infra-red hearing loop or Mobile Connect system, so visitors requiring hearing assistance should check in advance for available support options.
Seating across the theatre consists of fold-down chairs with fixed armrests, approximately 41cm wide. Perch seating is also available in both the Stalls and Circle for those who may benefit from higher seating without armrests.
With its combination of modern accessibility features and flexible seating options, the Regent Theatre offers an inclusive environment that enables a wide range of visitors to enjoy top-quality live entertainment.
