The Stockton Globe is a beautifully restored Art Deco venue located on Stockton High Street. Originally opened in 1935, it has welcomed legendary performers such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and continues to host a wide range of live entertainment including music, comedy, theatre, and dance.
The venue blends its historic charm with modern accessibility features, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all visitors. Accessible parking is available nearby, with Blue Badge spaces located on Church Road, The Square, and within Wellington Square and Bath Lane North car parks, all offering step-free routes to the theatre. There is also a convenient drop-off point directly outside the venue near the LINK bar entrance.
All entrances to the theatre are step-free, making arrival straightforward for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. Inside, a passenger lift provides access to both the Stalls and Circle levels. The Stalls offer fully step-free seating and are the most accessible area within the venue. In the Circle, step-free access is available specifically to the wheelchair positions in Row E, while other seating areas require a small number of steps.
There are 12 wheelchair spaces available throughout the auditorium, located across both the Stalls and Circle. These spaces are suitable for guests who wish to remain in their wheelchair or transfer to a theatre seat, with companion seating available nearby.
Accessible toilets are located on every level of the venue, ensuring facilities are always within easy reach. Most bar areas, including the LINK Bar, Stalls Bar, and VIP bar, are step-free and feature lowered counters for easier access. For guests seated in the Circle, an at-seat service is available to minimise movement during performances.
The theatre also offers hearing support through the Mobile Connect system, which can be used from any seat in the auditorium. Devices can be provided on request, and staff are available to assist with setup if needed. A range of accessible performances are available throughout the year, including audio described, captioned, and BSL interpreted shows. Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the venue and can either remain with guests or be looked after by staff during the performance if arranged in advance.
As with many live venues, some performances may include flashing lights, strobe effects, haze, or loud sounds, so it is recommended to check ahead if this may impact your visit.
With its combination of step-free access, lift connectivity, and flexible seating options, Stockton Globe provides a well-considered and accessible theatre experience while maintaining its historic character.
