West Midland Safari Park offers an exciting and largely mobility friendly wildlife experience, combining a safari drive-through, walk-around animal areas, and a family adventure theme park. Visitors can encounter a wide range of animals including lions, elephants, giraffes, rhinos and red pandas, as well as indoor exhibits such as reptiles and aquatic species. The Discovery Trail allows guests to explore animal habitats at their own pace, while live shows like the Sea Lion Theatre provide entertaining and educational experiences with accessible viewing areas.
Accessibility is well considered across much of the park, with 47 designated disabled parking spaces and level access from the car park to the main walk-around areas. Most pathways are concrete with gradual slopes, and the majority of animal exhibits are accessible via ramps or ground-level viewing areas. Some areas, such as the African Walking Trail, include steep gravel inclines and may not be suitable for mobility scooters or wheelchair users, but alternative accessible routes are available throughout the Discovery Trail.
Accessible toilets are located in multiple areas around the park, and a fully equipped Changing Places facility is available near the disabled parking, featuring a ceiling hoist, adjustable adult-sized bench and accessible layout. The Sea Lion Theatre provides wheelchair spaces with excellent views, and accessibility support services include a Queue Assistance Scheme for guests who cannot queue due to disability, as well as free carer entry for eligible visitors.
Assistance dogs are welcome in pedestrian areas, although they cannot enter certain animal enclosures or the safari drive-through for safety reasons. With accessible facilities, inclusive support services and a wide range of wildlife experiences, West Midland Safari Park offers a memorable and mobility friendly day out suitable for visitors with a variety of accessibility needs.
