The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth is the UK’s largest aquarium and a fascinating destination for all ages. With over 70 sharks and 4000 ocean animals to see, visitors can embark on a journey from the shores of Plymouth to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.

The aquarium is home to a variety of fascinating marine creatures including giant octopuses, seahorses, jellyfish, and sea turtles. Visitors can explore the Atlantic Ocean exhibit, which includes a 550,000-liter tank filled with a wide range of species found in the Atlantic, from the smallest fish to the largest sharks.

One of the main attractions is the Eddystone Reef exhibit, a recreation of a local reef ecosystem. Visitors can walk through an underwater tunnel and come face to face with the colorful fish and coral that make up this unique underwater environment.

The aquarium also has a variety of interactive exhibits and activities, including a virtual reality experience where visitors can swim with dolphins, as well as daily talks and feeding demonstrations.

With its stunning ocean views, accessible facilities, and a variety of exhibits and activities, the National Marine Aquarium is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the fascinating world of marine life.

This aquarium does have 3 dedicated spaces to the rear of the venue

The venue is wheelchair accessible throughout.

All of the exhibits have been designed to allow viewing by all of our guests

There are rest areas, with seating located throughout the attraction

Some areas of the exhibition are kept deliberately dark to enhance the viewing of the aquatic exhibits.

The exhibition is ramped in full compliance with building regulations.

Only one area within the exhibition requires a lift to access it. This is the Atlantic Ocean exhibit just passed the Ocean Drifters section.

Lifts are standard widths able to accommodate small and medium sized motorized chairs.

Disabled toilets are located next to the Eddystone Reef area, approximately 1/3rd of the way around the exhibit.

There is no flash photography allowed and no flashing lights are in use in any exhibit areas.

This changing place is roughly 1KM from the venue a 20 minute walk

Assistance dogs are allowed within the attraction. You will be asked to sign a waiver on arrival for your assistant dog.

There is free entry to carers accompanying disabled visitors on proof of valid identification (e.g. a carer identity badge, DLA/PIP letter).

Please book a free carer place when you book your ticket. 

Wheelchairs are available free of charge, on a first come first served basis, for customers who require them. the chairs are all manual. they will sanitize all wheelchairs before and after each use. 

If you would prefer a quieter experience, the aquarium also run special after hours events that allows families and people with autism, dementia and other sensory needs to enjoy the exhibits without the noise and distraction of the daily shows.
