Stirling Castle

Attraction Information

Stirling Castle unquestionably stands as one of the most magnificent Scottish castles, both due to its commanding position atop a prominent rocky outcrop and its remarkable architectural design. Noteworthy features include the splendid Great Hall, the Gatehouse of James IV, the enchanting Palace of James V, the Chapel Royal of James VI, and the artillery fortifications spanning from the 16th to the 18th centuries.

For those seeking engaging activities, the website offers printable quizzes and other enjoyable content for children.

Almost all sections within the castle are open for exploration, with the exception of the Museum of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The medieval kitchens and Elphinstone Tower are regrettably inaccessible to visitors using wheelchairs or push assistance. However, the ground floor of the shop and bookshop can be reached easily, and a ramp facilitates access to the castle cafe. Information boards in Braille are thoughtfully provided for the visually impaired.
