Visually impaired skiers have a range of options to enjoy the slopes, including voice control techniques with or without a headset. Additionally, some individuals may find high-visibility jackets helpful in following the instructor’s guidance.

Our beginner’s lessons are designed to foster independence right from the start. You will learn essential safety measures and gain proficiency in putting on the necessary equipment.

We offer four exceptional locations for you to choose from, each with its unique requirements. To ensure a smooth experience, we kindly ask you to thoroughly review the information provided in the “Where” section before finalizing your booking.

Manchester – Chill Factore

Chill Factorᵉ, near the Trafford Centre, is an easily accessible, fun and popular leisure destination that is packed with fun things to do for the whole family, snowsports enthusiasts and beginners alike! ‍ At Chill Factorᵉ we’re home to the longest real snow slope in the UK. What says ‘fun’ more than real snow – and lots of it? From sledging and sliding to ski and snowboard lessons and private tuition. We cater for all age groups from 4 yrs upwards, so we’ve really got something for everyone! There’s even a comfortable viewing gallery for the less active, so you can sit back, enjoy a coffee, and watch the excitement unfold.

Directions By Car

Chill Factorᵉ is located at Beyond within Trafford Quays Leisure Village and is less than four miles from Manchester City Centre. We are opposite The Trafford Centre and conveniently located just off the M60 motorway at junction 10.

Chill Factorᵉ is signposted from the motorway exit but thanks to our fabulously iconic building you won’t miss us! We offer free parking and have over 300 car parking spaces available including dedicated disabled parking bays.

On the day

  • Please arrive 20 minutes before the start of the lesson, leaving enough time to get ready
  • You do not have to check in at the front desk/reception at the indoor centre. Feel free to ask the centre staff where to meet your DSUK instructor – there will be a DSUK pop up banner at the meeting point
  • Currently clothing hire is not available at any of our centres. Changing facilities will also not be available, so please arrive ready in suitable clothing
  • If you are going to be sit skiing please bring warm outdoor boots or borrow a pair of snowboard boots from the rental desk for the lesson
  • Helmets must be worn and are available free of charge from the rental desk
  • We will take your temperature, and ask you if you have any covid symptoms before we start the lesson
  • Your instructor is likely to be busy with other lessons when you arrive, please don’t worry if you can’t see them straight away, wait at the meeting point, and the DSUK instructor will find you in time for the lesson

Glasgow– Snow Factor

With dedicated teaching and instruction slope, main ski slope, 4 ski lifts, ice climbing wall, Bar Varia Bar & Restaurant, Festive Grotto, Sledging and Baltic Ice Bar Glasgow, it really is the perfect winter fun destination and all only 10 minutes from Glasgow city centre (follow signs for the airport).

With guaranteed perfect teaching conditions and fresh snow every day, Snow Factor Glasgow is the perfect place to practice, train and learn to ski, snowboard or ice climb– whatever the weather – 364 days a year!

Braehead is easily accessible by road from the whole of west and central Scotland. Based at Junction 26 (eastbound) of Glasgow’s M8 motorway, a new motorway junction (25a) provides dedicated westbound access roads direct to the shopping centre whilst the new eastern link road connects the A8 dual carriageway.

On the day

We recommend you arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the lesson, leaving enough time to park, maybe have a drink or snack and then get kitted up for the lesson.

  • No need to check-in at the front desk/reception, just walk down the stairs and the DSUK Office is on the right-hand side.  A lift is available located in BarVaria.
  • Your DSUK instructor might be on the slope with other lessons when you arrive, so don’t worry if you can’t see them straight away.  If you are going to be using regular ski/ board boots and skis/ board – go up the rental counter, say you are with DSUK and get them to sort out your equipment.
  • Wait by the DSUK banner towards the bottom of the stairs with your equipment, and the DSUK instructor will find you in time for your lesson.
  • Make sure you bring suitable warm clothing, socks and gloves – clothing can be hired from SnowFactor, however, this will incur a charge. So it’s best to bring what you need with you.  It is cold – around freezing so be prepared.  There are changing areas within the toilets near the stairs
  • If you are going to be sit skiing, either bring warm outdoor boots or borrow a pair of snowboard boots from the rental desk for the lesson.
  • Helmets must be worn and are freely available by the rental desk.
  • Any concerns, just ask the centre staff where to go and what to do – so that you can be ready for the start of the lesson.
  • There is a balcony from the BarVaria where friends and family can watch you.
  • Hemel Hempstead – The Snow Centre

    The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead is the newest Snowsports destination in the UK with the closest REAL SNOW to London. Home to a 160m main slope & the largest indoor lesson slope, the centre boasts perfect snow conditions all year round. Hosting a range of skiing and snowboarding lessons for adults and children from 3 years old, lift passes, freestyle sessions and the ultimate sledging experience there is something for everyone to have a great day out!

    The Lodge Bar & Kitchen overlooking the slopes offer a wide choice of drinks, snacks, full meals and a licensed bar with free WIFI and parking.

    We are just 5 minutes from the M1 (Junction 8) and 10 minutes from the M25 (Junction 20), SatNav our postcode on HP3 9NH. We’ve got 280 FREE car parking spaces. Please respect our neighbours and only use designated parking spaces in The Snow Centre’s car park.

    On the day

    We recommend you arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the lesson, leaving enough time to park, maybe have a drink or snack and then get kitted up for the lesson.

    • For DSUK Lessons come up to level 1 and pass around the side of reception and wait by the window overlooking the slope, marked ‘Adaptive Snowsports Meeting Point’ and await your instructor
    • Your DSUK instructor might be busy with other lessons when you arrive, so don’t worry if you can’t see them straight away.  If you are going to be using regular ski/ board boots and skis/ board – go up the rental counter, say you are with DSUK, and get them to sort out your equipment.
    • There are changing rooms behind the lockers (on the right).  There is a larger changing room at the far end (nearest rental desk) that will accommodate a wheelchair.   Lockers for bags cost £1, but that is refundable.
    • If you need a ski jacket and ski trousers these can be rented, at a special DSUK price of £3, from the clothing desk within the rental area (say you’re with DSUK, or wait for your instructor).  For skis / snowboard/ boots go up to the end rental desk and ask for the appropriate kit.
    • If you are going to be sit skiing, either bring warm outdoor boots or borrow a pair of snowboard boots from the rental desk for the lesson.
    • Helmets are obligatory and can be found on the stands in the rental area.
    • Any concerns, just ask the centre staff where to go and what to do – so that you can be ready for the start of the lesson.
    • Come earlier and have some food or drink in the cafe ‘The Lodge’ on the second floor overlooking the slope.
  • Tamworth – Snow Dome

    SnowDome opened its doors in Tamworth as the UK’s first real snow indoor venue in 1994 and remains a leading choice for skiers and snowboarders in the region and beyond. All year round snow provides the perfect Alpine surface to learn and enjoy these sports in a fun environment. The premises consist of a 170-metre main slope and two separate 30 metre and 25-metre teaching slopes. SnowDome offers top class tuition for skiing and snowboarding, hire of equipment, various activities, group packages, business events and over the years has expanded its offer to include a gym and pool facilities and a selection of bars and restaurants.
